Back in 2018, I spent a lot of time making a gorgeous silk bias slip dress to wear to a friend’s wedding:
While it was beautiful, my attempt to hack my own cowl neck meant the straps were just weirdly wide, and my fix to get them to stay on meant they dug into my armpits a bit, and I rarely wore it after then because I tend to focus on comfort in my garments!
I realized that I could salvage it by turning it into a skirt, so back in April (4.5 years after I made it and it just sat in my closet all that time), I chopped off the top, sewed a waistband channel and added elastic.
A quick refashion, and I have a very wearable skirt! I would have preferred to do a zip instead of the elastic, and eliminate some of the extra fabric at the waist, but I’m trying to have a good balance of taking my time on important projects, but also just getting stuff done!
The dress was fully lined in the same silk, so I kept the lining, thinking I may eventually get around to making a matching tank - we’ll see if I get to it sometime in the next 4 or 5 years, given my track record…
Your skirt looks very nice with the sweater. Probably look nice with a tank out of the same material.☺️
