What I finished: 2023 #8 - green plaid jumpsuit
Time to play catch-up now - I've seen several things over the past few months, but they haven't made it up here yet!
I had saved a photo of some bedding from Society of Wanderers a while ago because I liked the colors and the plaid design. After several months, I saw they were having a sale, so I took the leap and purchased a king-sized sheet, which still wasn’t cheap and required shipping from Australia (which was why I didn’t buy it in the first place). It’s a large-scale plaid though, so it took a while for me to settle on a pattern to make, which ended up being a jumpsuit, and it’s been a great piece to throw on this summer!
Pattern: Caramiya Caladium Jumpsuit - a fun reversible loose jumpsuit, which can either be worn with the v-neck or the square-neck side in front.
Pattern mods: The pattern calls for finishing the v-neck with a facing and bias binding on the square-neck. I just did an all-in-one facing to make it cleaner.
Fabric: bedsheet
Date started/finished: 9/4/22 - 4/30/23
Notes: This was a quick sew (I cut it out last year, and didn’t get around to actually sewing it until this spring), but for whatever reason I kept messing up the pockets (sewing to the wrong side of the fabric, too low, and at least one other mistake), so I finally just cut them out and sewed it up without them. I like having pockets, but I’m not always crazy about in-seam pockets in garments without a waistband, as they can drag down the sides in some fabrics.
I finished sewing my jumpsuit the day before our town’s home and garden tour, so it was the perfect outfit for #farmerlaura to show off her front yard veggie garden!
I have some leftovers of the fabric, and I’m debating what else to make - what would you make?
